Department of Chemistry

B.B. Arts and N.B. Commerce College, Digras got the permission to start the science faculty at undergraduate level. Accordingly the science faculty under the name Bapusaheb Patil Science College was started since 1992 with the subjects Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics and Mathematics with groups as CBZ & PCM.

At present department have five teaching faculties and three non-teaching staff. Up till now 2 UGC/DST funded projects are completed. Department got the recognition of research centre from 2012 for five students by the parent University. Guidance of two research guides namely Dr. R. R. Wankhade & Dr. S. S. Patil is available at the centre. Five students of the centre are awarded Ph.D. degree by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University and five research students are working. It’s a matter of great proud that three students of B.Sc. faculty with chemistry subject were ranked in S.G.B. Amravati University merit list.

Department have specious laboratory established in area 2150 sq. feet. Department works with the aim to give the good education to the rural area students of Digras taluka and nearby area. Faculty members of the department are always eager to solve the difficulties of students and provide the mentorship to the needy students.

Department have the MOU with the industries and educational institutions. To carry out the overall development of students, department is always ahead to conduct the student centric activities as intercollegiate seminar, speech competitions and society centric activities related to the current issues as irradiations of plastics, need of water harvesting, blood donation, gender equality etc. Department not only organizes the activities but encourage the students to actively participated in the university, state level competitions.

During 2018-19 session department have conducted the certificate course for B.Sc. II student (30 students only). Students took the admission in this certificate course and completed it with great interest. Department motivates the students to undertake the project on some innovative things.

In this way department is flourishing day to day & working on the decided vision, mission & objectives.
